Get organized now!
Whether it’s because I’m inside more often now, hiding from the cold weather, or because I know that the looming holidays are sure to fill my home with even more clutter, I’ve become obsessed with getting organized. And while researching tools to help me in my quest, I’ve become smitten with one organizational company in particular: Buttoned Up!
Their blog has tons of great tips and ideas on tidying up and saving money. (Check out their latest entry, How to Save $500 by Dec. 31.)
And their products are completely controlling the chaos in my home. Here are a few that I love for myself and for friends (as gifts).
Mail sorter, $16 —The table in my entryway inevitably gets buried from the mail that piles up. This sorter has four slots to help me divide my mail right when I get it: Pay me, Read me, Respond to me and Notice me. There’s also a side compartment that I use to keep stamps and envelopes.
TravelPrep.pad, $5 —Ask my boyfriend: When we’re about to leave on a trip, I second-guess my self-made checklist about five times, wondering if I’m missing anything. This pad includes 75 sheets of organized checklists, so I know what to pack and what I’m forgetting when I walk out the door. (Also check out their Babysitter.pad and Chore.pad!)
Collision kit, $14.95 —I can only imagine the panic that ensues after getting into a car accident. This kit helps to make sure you’re prepared—and that you don’t forget anything in all the chaos. Included are pre-printed cards to document vital details, a pen, clipboard, an envelope to hold current registration and insurance info and a flash camera to take pics.
File.starter, $9 —If you don’t already have a home filing system, this will get you started. Ten labeled files on everything from your family’s health to your finances makes it easy to stay on top of everything.
Receipt.catcher, $7—They are floating everywhere! In my handbag, my desk, my home. With this nifty accordion file tucked in my bag, I now remember to keep receipts all in one place.
