Read The Summer Hideaway with us!
As you might have seen our book club has started up again and is currently reading The Summer Hideaway by Susan Wiggs. (Don’t have a copy yet? You can pick one up at your local Walmart.)
I’m going to be posting my thoughts on the book here for the next three weeks and hope you’ll join the discussion. I’ll also be drawing questions from our discussion guide. It has some great questions that really make you think—not only about the book but this about life.
This question in particular caught my attention so let’s make it our topic to talk about for this week! (See question after the jump!)

Join our book club!
Welcome to the All You book club!
Our latest selection is The Summer Hideaway by Susan Wiggs. We hope you’ll pick up a copy at Walmart and join our discussion by posting a comment below.
Prologue, Chapters 1-2
What did you think of the first two chapters of The Summer Hideaway? I’m really enjoying it. I’m eager for Ross to come home so he can get back to his life and spend the limited time he has with his grandfather. I would also like to learn more about Claire’s past—the details of the murder she witnessed and why it “was so dangerous she couldn’t even trust the police”? Even in the first few chapters I think The Summer Hideaway’s author Susan Wiggs has done a great job of drawing us in to want to know more about Ross, Claire and George. They’ve each each taken such different paths in life so far, I’m interested to learn how it’ll be for George and Ross to pick up where they left off and how the romance between Claire and Ross is going to unfold! What do you think of the book so far?

You Made That Dessert?
We don’t like to brag here at All You, but we just had to let everyone know that our fabulous food editor Beth Lipton’s cookbook hits shelves this week. You Made that Dessert? is, as its title suggests, a baking book with beginners in mind. With easy-to-follow recipes and crystal clear instructions that everyone can follow, Beth invites first-time bakers to create sweet treats from cookies and bars to pies and cakes. Those previously intimidated by the thought of whipping up a batch of brownies will certainly love this book, but more experienced bakers will also enjoy Beth’s delicious take on classics like flourless chocolate cake and lemon meringue pie. With sections covering ingredients, useful tools and cooking methods, You Made that Dessert? will keep you cool, calm and collected in the kitchen – just like Beth!

Reading programs that pay back
Posted by Erin Gifford, owner of CouponCravings.com
This past year my kindergartener has become an avid reader. So of course I’m excited about all the great reading programs to keep her motivated and ready for school in September. Here are four free summer reading programs you may want to check out:
1) Look into Bookworm Wednesdays at National Amusements Theatres. Every Wednesday at 10 a.m., starting July 6, your child can get free admission to a select children’s film when he presents a book report.
2) At TD Bank (formerly Commerce Bank), your child can earn $10 to be deposited into a Young Savers account when he reads 10 books between May 4 and September 30.

Get away for less
To me, there’s nothing better than curling up on the couch with a good book and losing track of time. And because I’ve been on a money-saving kick recently, this is something I’ve been doing a lot of lately. As soon as I finish what I’m currently reading, I’ll be diving in to our latest book club selection The Inn at Eagle Point, which hits Walmart stores on March 31.
Just like our previous book club selections, we’ll be hosting an online discussion for The Inn at Eagle Point each week on our blog. Come on over on April 3rd to chat about Chapters 1-3. In the meantime, check out some of our other favorite book club blogs.

Favorite blogs: Shake the Salt
I love the adorably designed blog, Shake the Salt, which promises reviews, giveaways, freebies and tips for frugal moms—and it absolutely delivers! Here are some of things about this blog that I like:
My favorite part is a recurring post that the blogger just started called “A Moment For Me.” With each of these entries, which will be posted every Monday, she’ll remind us to take time out for ourselves (and read a book, take a bath and so on).
Her Frugal Deals roundups are always super helpful, too, when you’re on the hunt for coupons and discounts. (When are we not?!?)
She also has a great eye for random, neat things on the Web. This one links to an encouraging video about famous “failures.”
Who doesn’t love giveaways? This blogger hosts her own every now and then, like this one, which you can still enter!
And lastly, I like the book reviews. It’s always helpful to know what someone like you thinks about a certain book!
