Ring in ‘09 with clothing deals!
The weather outside is surely frightful. But you can still warm up from head to toe with some extra cozy clothes. I’m such a sucker for anything soft. If it’s cozy, I’m in. Since I can’t wear my PJs to work, here are some picks for the next best things to wear.
Polar fleece hat, scarf and gloves for $1 each! (Walmart)
Heavenly fleece jacket (Lands’ End, $39.50)
Puffer vest with faux-fur trim (Aeropostale, $29)
Jersey blouse (Macys, $17)
Women’s plus size hooded Cashmere sweater (Oldnavy.com, $39.50)
Bouclé turtleneck sweater (Victoriassecret.com, $29)
Bootcut corduroy pants (JCPenney, $19.99)
Wool flannel flats (Martin + Osa, $60)
Cable knit clogs (American Eagle, $34.50)

5 beauty tricks for your night out

Wear fake lashes. Nothing else says “dressed up” or “look at me” more than falsies. If you’re a newbie, line upper lids with black liner before applying.
Think glimmer. For that extra holiday sparkle, dab a bit of a shimmery gold eye shadow on the inner corners of your eyes. Add instant glam to your ‘do with headbands, jeweled barrettes and fancy combs.
Skip shampoo. When it comes to party hair, dirty is good. It’ll be easier to style—plus it’ll look shinier. But if you’re feeling really oily and dying to suds up, sneak in an extra day with dry shampoo (or baby powder) instead.
Let your fingers do the talking. Wearing the same shade on both your nails and toes is too predictable. My favorite combo: golden fingers and inky red toes.
Don’t forget your signature scent. Last but not least, perfume! I like to spray directly onto my hairbrush, wait a few seconds (so the alcohol disappears) then brush through my hair.

Save money with a few clicks
During all my online holiday shopping, I came across a few exceptionally good money-saving Web sites that are well worth a bookmark on everyone’s browser. If you forget to check your bookmarked pages, keep a Post-It note on your computer or at your desk reminding you to utilize this vital list:
Cheapuncle.com: According to the site, it searches “5,000 coupons and deals for more than 26,000,000 products from over 12,000 stores to make sure you get the best deal.” What’s not to love? I typed in WiiFit and found it for as low as $130.
Upons.com: Scan a bunch of coupons (covering everything from bouquets to Cheerios), check the boxes for the ones you that want and click “Print Now” to receive. So easy!
Retailmenot.com: You know that box at checkout that asks if you have any promotional codes? I used to always skip that part, since I had nothing to put there. But now I will always check this site to see if other users have posted a discount code for the store I’m about to buy from. There’s usually a long list of working codes. I’ve saved over $20 on gifts!
Valpak.com: You may already receive an envelope of coupons from Valpak via snail mail. But I didn’t realize until now that you can go to the company’s site, type in your Zip Code and receive tons of discounts and specials to stores in your area. (Especially nice when you misplace the hard copy of a coupon that you received!)
