Keep pet hair off your furniture

Keep pet hair off your furnitureDo you love when your cat or dog curls up with you on the couch, but hate the hair she leaves behind? Here’s a simple, low-cost solution: Watch for home sales at department stores, and buy a few inexpensive placemats that match your furniture and décor. Place the mats on your cat or dog’s favorite place to sit (my cat’s most-loved spot: the couch arms). Pet hair and dirt will end up on the placemat, not your couch. (Just throw the mat in the washer when it gets grimy.)

Believe it or not, some cats will actually tolerate being vacuumed gently, and a few even consider it a treat! Vacuflo makes pet vacuuming attachments for central vacuums. Pets seem to tolerate these because of the low noise level of central vacs and is less alarming to their sensitive ears.

There are plenty of vacuums available for pet owners. Visit http://www.petvacuums.org and see which one’s will work for you.

Another simple solution is to purchase the special “pet sponges” or rollers available to clean up the hair. Obviously the best solution is choose pet vacuums that are specifically designed for the task.
