Do a lot of online shopping? You probably already love rebate sites such as Ebates and FatWallet. Now there’s a new game in town—actually, an old one reincarnated.

Bing.com, the Microsoft search engine trying to compete with Google, has a little-publicized shopping site called “Cashback.” (It used to be called LiveSearch.) To get to Cashback, punch up Bing.com and click on “shopping” in the left column.

The rebates are hefty: Anywhere from 2 to 5 percent from Walmart, depending on the product, or 10 percent from Drugstore.com. There are hundreds of online stores to choose from, including The Gap, Kmart, Home Depot and Barnes & Noble (which offers a 10 percent rebate, the highest we’ve seen.)

As with all rebate sites, tread carefully:

• Using a coupon code generally voids the rebate. Do the math to see which one gets you the better discount. (Or, head over to Ebates.com. Coupon codes listed on their site can be combined with rebates.)

• Complete your purchase within 24 hours. Leaving something in your shopping cart longer than that can cause the rebate site to stop tracking your purchase, and you won’t get credit.
• If you buy online infrequently or make only small purchases, pick one site and stick with it. Most sites require that you accrue at least $5 in rebates before they mail you a check.
