Learn how to save on organics

77b5f86a-HIGH-22382497Do you drive by Whole Foods and think you’d never be able to afford the pricey organic fare there? I did, until a couple of weeks ago when one opened in my neighborhood. I popped in, figuring that they might have some deals to celebrate the store’s grand opening. I was right—I found the organic Stonyfield yogurt I like for 65 cents each and Kashi cereal for $3 a box. And this week, I paid $3.50 for 1 1/4 pound of organic 85 percent lean ground beef. While I don’t think I’ll be doing all of my weekly shopping at Whole Foods, I was happy to know that I CAN actually afford some of the food they sell. If one near you, you might want to check it out. You might be surprised to find some great deals.

I save the plastic wrapper that our daily newspaper comes in for dirty diapers. I am a caretaker for a 16 month old and instead of the expensive diaper disposal bags that are sold, I save the newspaper wrapper and for that matter the loaf of bread wrappers and use them instead. I have even tucked some in moms diaper bag for her use on the go.
