Too broke to dine out?
My husband and I just cut our budget down to the bare bones. No cable, only an occasional slice and a movie … the list goes on. Yet being one who loves to go out, I just couldn’t pass up this ridiculously great deal! If you’re a savvy online saver, you may already know that you can get $25 local restaurant certificates at Restaurants.com for $10 when you spend a total of $50 total and $10 certificates for just $3 when you spend between $15 and $20.
What you may not know is that if you go to couponmom.com and look in the restaurant section, you’ll find a coupon code that gives you an additional 80 percent off that price. So the $25 restaurant certificate costs you just two dollars, and the $10 certificate costs 60 cents!
It sounds too good to be true, but I just got $130 worth of restaurant certificates for a grand total of $9.80. The next few times we get out, we’ll be checking out a few nice restaurants I didn’t think I could afford, instead of stopping by the local pizza parlor. There are certain restrictions on most coupons though (such as no weekend service), so read the fine print before you jump.

Be careful with these….. Yes they do work, but sometimes you don’t really get THAT much off because they tack on about 18% gratuity! We went to the melting pot and use the $25/$50 one…. Our bill was like 7x.xx and it took off the 25 but with the 18% it only really saved us like $5! I paid $2 for the certificate, so I really only saved like $3…

so i was just looking at the website and noticed that the gift certificates can only be used if you spend a certain amount at the restaurant. like a $25 gift certificate is only valid if you spend 35 or sometimes 50 dollars.

you might also want to check and see if the restaurant you want to try out is still accepting these discount coupons in the first place. i bought a bunch a while back and tried to use several within 2-3 weeks of purchase to no avail, calling ahead to check and getting a lot of “no we’re not taking those anymore and the website won’t remove us like we asked them to” for answers. the website will not give me my money back either or exchange like i believe they stated, despite emailing them and letting them know that there were quite a few certificates i purchased that were no good. i generally don’t bad-mouth any companies, but i’m just saying- buyer beware…
