Get loads of freebies

Posted by Erin Gifford, owner of CouponCravings.com

get loads of freebiesEvery Tuesday I do a weekly “Freebies Round-Up” post on Coupon Cravings where I share the best freebies of the week, like free shampoo, coupon booklets, magazines and laundry detergent. But there are so many more great ways to get free stuff, so here are three ways to score some fab free goodies today.

1) You can now text your way to free stuff thanks to ShopText. Just text a special code to “467467” and receive your freebie in the mail in a few weeks. Current freebies include Carefree Pantiliners (text CAREFREE), Fiber One Bars (text FIBER) and Clean & Clear Makeup Wipes (text CLEAN).

2) There are loads of blogs dedicated to short posts on freebies. A couple of my favorite are Hey, It’s Free! and Free Stuff Times. Walmart.com is also a fabulous resource for free samples. Set up a separate email account for freebies-only since you may receive various coupons and promotions throughout the year from these companies.

3) Sign up to take part in “word of mouth” marketing campaigns to get free products and coupons from the likes of Kraft, General Mills and Procter & Gamble. A few marketing programs to check out include SheSpeaks, VocalPoint and Kraft First Taste.

Do you have any other great tips for scoring free stuff? I’d love to hear them. Feel free to comment or write me directly through CouponCravings.com.

My favorite feature of Coupon Cravings is when free magazines are offered. I don’t always ‘qualify’ when I fill out the information on the forms for some reason but I always check them out. Thank you!

What’s not to love about Coupon Cravings?! If I had to pick just one thing to love it’s that you do the work for me. Matching up the store sales to available coupons is a big time saver. Thanks.

I checked out the daily savings page before I saw this contest and what I found was YOU, actually. Then I saw where I could leave a message to tell you about it and thank you for posting all the great deals and win prizes as well. I printed out the coupon for Rite-Aid $5 off and I am going there now to use it! ;) Keep those deals coming!

I believe this aspect is growing everywhere as business owners learn what it is. For example, Phoenix is much more sophisticated in this regards than here in Tucson. I average small business owner is still way behind in their understanding such incidents.

Greetings:
Often I read about how people save so much money through coupons and refunding. Granted, there is some money to be saved. However, I don’t understand how people save tremendous amounts of money. For one thing, so many of the ‘good’ coupons (for items most purchased) are usually only for 25 cents or maybe 50 cents. Sometimes, there are even dollar coupons but these are usually for shampoo and cream rinse or some kind of hand lotion…(or for something that no one would ordinarily buy anyhow).
A lady in this article said that she saves up to 47% on her food bill. To me, I think that she and her family are either vegetarians or they live on a farm and get their meat ‘free’. Even in the discount food markets, it is very difficult to find true meat savings…especially on beef. (Yes…I know about the day-old mark-downs on meat) and if you wrap it up and freeze it right away, there are savings to be had here.
I realize that there are ‘double coupon days’ at certain stores on certain days of the week…but we don’t get these types of discounts in our city.
I realize too that people write in to get ‘Manufacturer’s Coupons’. Although these are nice for a one-time advantage only, you can’t write in for these every time you want a free or greatly discounted item from that particular company.
Yes, I do take advantage of the BOGO items on occasion…but you have to look out for these as well…as often the prices are marked way up, like Safeway does on their 18 count eggs. You’re hardly getting one ‘free’ when they do this.
Yes…It is a good idea to match coupons with sales at the stores, but this isn’t always possible either. Stocking up is a great idea too…if you have the room available and the money in which to do this.
So, although there are savings available, I still don’t understand how people save so much money on their shopping…especially on a regular basis. Please tell me if I’m missing something here.
Any and all money-saving ideas at the super market would be very much appreciated.
Thank you.

P.S. Cooking up large amounts of food at a time and freezing some of it for another meal is a good idea…IF you can keep the family out of the second portion until ready to serve at another meal. Hard to do in this family…but a good idea, never-the-less.
