Netbooks, the affordable laptop
In today’s troubled economy, if you’re in the market for a new laptop, but only intend to use it for surfing the web, typing, emailing and chatting – there’s no need to pony up $1,000 for a device.
Instead try a cheaper alternative: the “netbook,” an affordable and small notebook, somewhere between a laptop and smartphone in terms of functionality. Boasting a super-portable size, more so than standard laptops, the netbook is easy to carry on planes or around town. Best of all – drum roll, please – it sports a cheaper pricetag: only $300 – $500.
Unfortunately with the netbook, you’ll sacrifice some processor speed, storage space and a normal-sized keyboard … but a $300 pricing may help you overlook such shortcomings. If not, check out ways to reduce the cost of a conventional laptop or take a look at the low-cost laptops currently on the market.
